01 — LOS TIGRES

Chaos By Teeth. Invisible Injuries.

LOS TIGRES is one of the most personal works in the SKMHQ collection. The piece looks back at childhood, absence, shame, identity, and the invisible injuries that can settle beneath the surface over time.

The painting draws from Salvador Estrada’s memory of those formative years and from La Garra De... by Los Tigres Del Norte. During the process, the skateboard deck was sanded too deeply and damaged. Rather than discard it, the work was given more time and care—an accident that became part of the meaning.

“Pains of being a kid. Absence from an example. Introduction to trauma. The invisible injuries we carry and the effect it has on us.”
